Kitchen flooring

Is a wooden floor in the kitchen a good idea? Many people aren’t sure if natural wood will work well in an interior with lots of steam, moisture and dirt. Let us dispel these doubts. A wooden floorboard in the kitchen will not only look beautiful, but will also be practical.

INTERIOR WITH A SOUL

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s the place where the whole family meets every day to find a few moments to talk while eating meals together. It can often be the only opportunity to spend some time together. This is why the design of the kitchen is so important. The kitchen should be not only practical, but stylish as well. For this reason, more and more often kitchen floors are lined with natural wood, which is a good alternative to tiles. Wood is very versatile and works well in both classic and modern design styles. A wooden floor in the kitchen looks very impressive, smells pleasant and feels nice to the touch. You can even happily step on it barefoot while preparing a lazy weekend morning coffee.

IMPREGNATING A WOODEN KITCHEN FLOOR

Is wood flooring in the kitchen resistant to moisture? Yes, provided it is properly waterproofed. Natural floorboard can be preserved to reduce surface tension on the face of the boards. This will prevent them from being damaged by steam, and the water spilled on them will behave like mercury and can be easily collected. To ensure the best possible protection of the boards in the kitchen, the floor should be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (a maintenance product in living areas should be applied once every few months). An important fact to remember is that the best wood boards for the kitchen are those made from hardwood, such as ash. Another thing to keep in mind is that wooden floorboards in a kitchen need to be vacuumed.  More persistent dirt can be removed using a damp cloth and a suitable care product depending on the type of floor.

HOW TO LAY THE FLOORBOARDS IN THE KITCHEN?

The arrangement of the wooden flooring in the kitchen affects the shape of the room. The direction of the boards will have an impact on our perception of the interior. Ideally, the longer edge of the board should be laid parallel to the window. If there are several windows in the room, lay the boards along the direction of the sunlight. When installing floorboards in a kitchen where one of the walls is longer than 8 m, the boards should be laid along the longer side of the room.
